Adding
users
Note:
By
defau
lt,
the
storage
system
uses
local
authentication
mode
. If
your
site
uses
Active
Directory
,
you
might
want
to
use
Active
Directory
authentication
mode
instead.
Since
all
user
da
t
a
and
all
shared
f
older
assignments
are
deleted
when
you
switch
from
one
mode
to
ano
t
her
, it
is
recommended
that
you
decide
which
mode
you
want
to
use
before
proceeding.
For
more
information,
refer
to
“Changing
the
authentication
mode”
In
local
authentication
mode,
by
default
the
storage
system
includes
a
user
named
guest
tha
t
has
a
password
of
guest
.
Windows
and
Mac
OS
X
users
can
access
all
shared
f
olders
tha
t
guest
is
authorized
t
o
access.
However
,
you
might
wan
t
to
add
other
users
as
well.
For
example,
if
you
want
to
restrict
access
to
a
shared
folder
tha
t
con
t
ains
confidential
information,
you
would
add
a
t
least
one
user
and
authorize
that
user
to
access
that
shared
folder
(and
not
authorize
the
guest
user
to
access
it).
Adding
a
user
for
each
individual
or
compu
t
er
in
your
network
provides
maximum
flexibility
and
security
,
enabling
you
to
control
exactly
who
can
access
what
information.
In
addition,
only
Windows
and
Mac
OS
X
users
can
use
the
guest
user
name.
If
there
are
Linux
users
or
Mac
users
who
aren’t
using
OS
X
in
your
network
,
you must
add
users
t
o
allow
those
individuals
to
access
any
shared
folders.
(In
Active
Directory
authentication
mode
,
you
can
add
only
Linux/other
Mac
users.)
You
can
add
up
to
128
Windows
or
Mac
OS
X
users,
and
up
to
128
Linux
or
other
Mac
users
(for
a
t
o
t
al
of
up
to
256
users).
Note:
Since
each
Linux/other
Mac
user
can
represent
multiple
users,
the
number
of
actual
users
can
be
higher
.
To
add
a
user
:

In
the
naviga

,
click
