ALPHA® SolarSign
Appendix B: Using DIP switches to set the serial address: 25
Appendix B:
Using DIP switches to set the serial address
A sign’s serial address can be set either by using the hand-held
remote control or by changing the sign’s internal DIP switches.
The DIP switch method should be used if you want to assign a
permanent serial address to the sign. For example, if your Alpha® Solar
is attached to a network of other signs, you may want to give the Alpha®
Solar a unique address so that you can send messages to only the
Alpha® Solar.
To change the serial address using DIP switches, do the following:
1. Turn off power to the sign.
2. Remove the sign’s power supply access cover:
WARNING
Hazardous voltage.
Contact with high voltage may
cause death or serious injury.
Always disconnect power
to sign prior to servicing.

Then remove the cover to expose the power supply.
NOTE: To remove one of the screws, you’ll have to
use a special Torx bit (supplied).
