Advanced Diagnostics USA Manual for MVP & TCODE PRO – Copyright 2014 Advanced Diagnostics USA INC.
Some models use the new dealer “G” transponder key and some don’t. It is possible to have 2 identical
cars side by side and one still on the older key and one on the “G” key.
Even looking the vehicle up by the VIN can give you the wrong key.
If the customer already has a working key that has the letter “G” stamped on the blade, than another “G”
key will work ne. If not follow the steps below.
There is only 1 way to tell for sure. This is for 2010 & 2011 models.
Before cutting the transponder key - insert a mechanical key in the ignition and turn to the On position.
Go to “RESET Immobilizer” and see if you can communicate with “TYPE 4” - If you can than is NOT a
“G” key vehicle.
Toyota TYPE 4 systems are not “G” transponder key vehicles. They are second generation 4D systems.
Toyota TYPE 5 systems are “G” transponder key vehicles.
