TYPE 5 (G Key System)
Toyota Immobilizer
ALL Toyota TYPE 5 use what the industry refers to as a “G” transponder chip in the keys.
Factory “G” chips can come in two varieties MASTER and VALET.
Factory keys with grey plastic heads have a VALET type & chip cannot be used to perform a
RESET or to introduce more keys into the system with the MVP or T-Code.
How to tell if a programmed key is a MASTER or a VALET?
Valet key- when rst inserted into the ignition lock, the Security Light will stay on for 2 sec-
onds and then stay off.
Master key- when inserted into the ignition lock, the Security Light will not illuminate at all.
TYPE 5 SPECIAL FUNCTIONS:
RESET Immobilizer: This function erases all keys and programs in 1 Master Key.
This function is used when the customer has lost all their Master keys. (Takes Approx.16
minutes)
PROGRAM KEY: This function allows you to add a Master or a Valet key to the car’s immo-
bilizer system as long as you have an existing pre-programmed Master key to start with.
ERASE KEYS: This function allows you to erase all keys except the key in the ignition lock
at the time.
Program Master Key: This function is on the TYPE 5 menu for only one purpose. It is there
only for when for some reason a RESET Immobilizer procedure has been partially completed
but was for whatever reason (drivers door shut halfway thru or wrong transponder key used)
a Master Key was not programmed in successfully.
In cases like this the Immobilizer has already been Reset, so you need to be able to perform
this function separately because if you try and start off with Reset Immobilizer the procedure
will fail because the Immobilizer has already been Reset.
Program Master Key can only be used for this purpose. Do not use it unless you have the
situation described above.
