8.5AUTODETECT
TheAutodetectsoftwarefeatureautomaticallydetectsthepresenceof
transmissioncomponentsorinputsignals,thuspermittingtheuseofdifferent
featuresorinputsignalswithacommonTCM.Autodetectchecksforthe
presenceofavalidinputsignaldenotingthepresenceofeachofthefeatures
listed.Diagnosticfunctionsrelatingtoeachoftheseitemsareexecutedif
thefeatureisdetectedandused.RefertoT able8–1forthepresenceofthe
followingtransmissioncomponentsordatainputs.

8.6ADAPTIVESHIFTING
Adaptiveshiftingisabasicdesignfeatureoftheshiftcontrolswhich
optimizesshiftquality.Thisisaccomplishedbyfrequentmonitoringofcritical
characteristicsintheclutchengagementprocessandmakingcontinuous
adjustmentstocertaincharacteristicswhichimprovesubsequentshifts.
Thetransmissionshiftcalibrationisbasedonseveraldifferenttypesofshifts,
suchasfullthrottle,partthrottle,closedthrottle,upshifts,anddownshifts.
Eachshiftisassociatedwithspecicspeedandthrottlepositionparameters.
Tooptimizeeachtypeofshiftfornormaldriving,itisnecessaryfortheshift
controlstohaveexperiencedoperationandshiftinginawidevarietyof
operatingconditions.Adrive-inperiodundervariousdrivingconditionsis
requiredbeforetheadaptivecontrolscanbeexpectedtooptimizeeachand
everyshift.Youshouldbegintoseeshiftqualityconvergetotheadaptedlevel
afterveshiftsofaparticularshifttype.
