COLDCHECK:TheCOLDCHECKbandveriesthetransmissionhas
adequateuidforstart-upandoperationuntilitcanbecheckedatthe
operating(hot)temperature.Onlyusethischecktoconrmadequateuid
levelforacoldstart-upandnottosetuidlevelsforcontinuedoperation.
Typically,thecheckismostaccuratewithuidtemperaturesof16-49°C
(61-120°F).
NOTE:Withengineoff,theuidlevelshouldreachthehotrunband
orhigheronthedipstickevenatcoldambienttemperatures.The
coldcheckbandiscalibratedonthestickfortheuidlevelattained
whilethetransmissionisrunningandinN(Neutral).Donotmovethe
vehicleuntiltheuidlevelreachesthecoldfullmarkwithengine
runningandtransmissioninN(Neutral).
HOTCHECK:TheHOTCHECKbandcheckstheuidlevelatthenormal
operatingtemperature,71-93°C(160-200°F).Fluidlevelchecksatoperating
temperatureofferthebestassuranceofmaintainingthecorrectuidlevel.
Typically,thetransmissionisatoperatingtemperatureattheendoftheshift
orattheendoftheday.
TheuidmustbemaintainedabovetheCOLDCHECKmarktoassurethe
uidisabovethechargingpumpsuctionportinsidethetransmission.This
preventschargingpumpcavitationwhichcausesaerationoftheuidand
erraticoperationofthetransmission.IftheuidisabovetheHOTCHECK
mark,itmaycontacttherotatingpartsofthetransmissioncausinguid
aerationwhichresultsinerratictransmissionoperation,andmaycause
overheatingandpowerloss.
CAUTION:Transmissiondamagecanresultfromextendedoperation
atlowuidlevelconditions.
NOTE:Donotoverllthetransmission.Overheating,oilfoaming
