Questions and Answers

Why does the Ambient Weather WS-1900A rain gauge report rain when it is not raining?
    • A
      Alyssa HowellAug 6, 2025
An unstable mounting solution could be the reason. If the mounting pole sways, it may cause the tipping bucket to incorrectly register rainfall. Ensure you have a stable and level mounting solution.

    jmcconnellAug 12, 2025
Why does my Ambient Weather WS-1900A temperature sensor read too high during the day?
    • C
      chelseaharrisAug 12, 2025
Ensure that the sensor array is not near heat generating sources such as buildings, pavement, walls, or air conditioning units. If installation issues persist, use the calibration feature to offset radiant heat sources.

Why is the wind vane on my Ambient Weather Weather Station not spinning as freely as the wind cups?
    • D
      Dr. Marcus MyersAug 18, 2025
This is intentional. The dampening prevents the wind vane from spinning with the slightest breeze, which would cause constantly variable wind readings. The added resistance allows the wind vane to accurately track direction changes with winds of 2-3 mph or greater.

    Edward SchroederAug 23, 2025
What to do if the relative pressure on my Ambient Weather WS-1900A does not agree with an official reporting station?
    • A
      Ashley GibsonAug 23, 2025
First, make sure you are viewing the relative pressure and not the absolute pressure. Then, properly calibrate the sensor to an official local weather station.
  • J
    Jessica GreerAug 29, 2025
What to do if my Ambient Weather WS-1900A Weather Station outdoor sensor array does not communicate with the display console?
    • J
      jordangreerAug 29, 2025
First, reset the console by pressing the reset button for 3 seconds with an open-ended paperclip to discharge the voltage. Remove the batteries and wait one minute while covering the solar panel to drain any remaining voltage. Then, reinsert the batteries and resync the console with the sensor array, keeping them about 10 feet apart. Alternatively, power cycle the console by removing AC power and batteries, waiting 10 seconds, and then reinserting them. If the LED on the sensor array is not flashing every 16 seconds, replace the batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
