27. Place unit in operating position and position a sturdy
support, such as a wood block, under rear mower
deck edge so wheels do not contact work surface.
See Figure 19.
28. Remove dust caps from rear wheels.
29. Remove shoulder bolts retaining rear wheels and
remove wheels.
See Figure 20.
30. Remove E-rings retaining pinion gears and remove
gears.
31. Remove hardware retaining wheel covers and remove
covers.
See Figure 21.
32. Remove one flat steel washer, one spacer and a
second flat steel washer from each axle end.
33. Remove shoulder bolt retaining cutting height linkage
to axle plate.
IMPORTANT: If rust is present on transmission shaft ends
or pinion gears, remove with sandpaper and wipe clean
with oil. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound to
transmission shaft ends before reinstalling pinion gear.

WARNING: AVOID INJURY. Deck lift assist
spring has tension. Place cutting height
adjustment lever in the highest position before
disconnecting from axle plate.
