3.7 PROGRAMMING
Proper functioning of the camera system relies on programming of software and
firmware.
Isolation FPGA
A JTAG cable must be connected to the isolation board during manufacturing in order to
program its FPGA.
Motherboard FPGA
A JTAG cable connected to the motherboard during manufacturing allows for
programming of the motherboard’s FPGA.
Head FPGA
The camera heads are plugged into an isolation board which has a special JTAG cable
connected to the programmer. The JTAG lines are routed directly within the camera head
cable to the camera head’s FPGA.
Software
The CCU software, controlling the operation of the embedded processor can be provided
by the SD Card inserted into the motherboard or by pre-programming the NOR Flash.
Application programs and data are stored on the installed Solid State Drive.
