CPU 1021/A User’s Guide
6 Asem S.p.A.
Parallel port
The optional parallel port (through an additional card that is in
alternative to port COM3) is compatible with the Centronics standard.
The mode of the parallel port (SPP,ECP, EPP) and the I/O address
and any IRQ and DMA can be arranged via the Setup.
Serial ports
The system allows the use of 4 serial ports : two equipped with
driver/receiver RS232 (COM 1 and COM2), one multi-standard (RS-
232/422/485) optional on the additional card in alternative to the
parallel port and one dedicated to the touchscreen (COM4).
COM3 is equipped with an automatism for the management of the
direction of the transmission line The port is normally in reception
state. If there is a transmission request, it switches the line driver to
transmission only for the time needed to complete it. The multi-
standard, optically insulated COM3 card is optionally available.
The arrangement of the addresses of I/O, of the IRQ's and of the
standards of the ports can be selected via software by means of the
system Setup.
LAN1 10/100/1000 Mbps Port
The CPU 1021/A integrates a LAN sub-system (local network) PCI at
10/100/1000 Mbps (full duplex), based on the chip Intel 82574L.
Through a connector RJ45 it is possible to connect to a hub at
10Mbps or 100Mbps or 1Gbps an Ethernet local network 10BASE-T
or 100BASE-TX or 1000BASE-TX.
The chip supports self-negotiation of the speed of communication
(IEEE802.3u).
