Description
Asem S.p.A. 7
LAN2 10/100/1000(opt.) Mbps Port
The CPU 1021/A integrates a LAN sub-system (local network) at 1
Gigabit (full duplex) with integrated controller in the southbridge
(ICH8M) and part of output based on the chip Intel 82566M. Via a
connector RJ45 it is possible to connect to a hub at 10Mbps,
100Mbps or 1 Gigabit an Ethernet local network 10BASE-T,
100BASE-TX or 1 Gigabit..
The chips support self-negotiation of the speed of communication
(IEEE802.3u).
USB (Universal Serial Bus) ports
The system supports 8 ports USB 2.0. Serial transfers are supported
up to 480 Mbit/s. Four ports (USB0~3) are available on the rear
external connectors. Two ports (USB4~5) are available on the
connectors on the front of the system.
The signals for the 2 ports (USB 6~7) are present on the pin-strip
J18 (for internal use) and can be carried on to a bracket via an
adaptor cable for 2 USB ports 2.0
Firmware Hub
The FWH is a serial Flash of 8 Mbits that contains the system BIOS
and the video BIOS.
The BIOS (Phoenix Technologies) is composed of modules in the
Eprom in compressed format that are decompressed when the
system is started. After the bootstrap, the system BIOS part is seen
at the addresses E0000h – FFFFFh while the BIOS video at the
addresses C0000h - CFFFFh.
The Flash Eprom can be re-programmed via the utility PHLASH16,
thus allowing easy updating of the firmware.
On the motherboard there are two serial EEPROM SPI 16Mbit
containing system and BIOS configuration data.
