Example
The following figure displays a sample output for the show ip address command.

Note:
The Router and DNS IP addresses are global, or common. Addresses and pools that do not
have Router and DNS addresses configured within them use these global addresses.
Changing subnet netmask value
The subnet mask is configured using procedure Configuring the IP address on page 40. Use this
procedure to change the subnet mask to the default value or clear the subnet mask.
Procedure
1. Enter Global Configuration mode:
enable
configure terminal
2. At the command prompt, enter the following command:
[default] [no] ip netmask
Variable definitions
The following table describes the parameters for the ip netmask command.
Variable
Value
default Sets the subnet mask to the default value
(255.255.255.0).
no Sets the subnet mask for a switch to all zeros
(0.0.0.0).
