What to do if Banner Gateway has marginal site survey RSSI results?
    • D
      Donna AbbottAug 7, 2025
If you're encountering marginal site survey results (RSSI) with your Banner Gateway, it's likely due to excessive distance (over 5,000 meters or 3 miles line-of-sight) between devices or obstructions interfering with the signal path, resulting in a missed packet count exceeding 40 per 100 packets. To resolve this: * Elevate the DX80 units by physically moving the devices or remotely installing the antennas at a higher position. * Utilize high-gain antennas like Yagi and/or Omni. * Reduce the distance between the devices. * Employ data radios to extend the Gateway's position relative to the host system.

Why is the red LED flashing on my Banner Microphone system Node?
    • L
      Linda NicholsAug 11, 2025
If your Banner Microphone system Node flashes the red LED, indicating no synchronization, ensure the following: * The Network ID on the Node matches the Gateway Network ID (0-15). * Each node has a unique Device ID (1-15). * If the Gateway and Node are too close (less than two meters), move them further apart. * Ensure the Gateway and Node aren't too far apart. * Verify a qualified antenna is mounted on both devices. * After parameter changes, power cycle the devices. * Allow up to 20 seconds for synchronization. * Recycle power on both Gateway and Node devices.

How to troubleshoot RS485 communication issues with the Banner Microphone system DX80 Gateway?
    • S
      Sharon MarquezAug 16, 2025
If you're experiencing communication issues with the Banner Microphone system DX80 Gateway using RS485, consider the following: * Verify that your DX80 model supports RS485 serial communications. * Ensure the Slave ID is correctly set for your bus environment (default is 1). * Confirm the Modbus timeout is appropriately set (factory default is four seconds). * Ensure proper biasing of the serial lines is provided externally to the DX80, as termination is not supplied by the Gateway. Also, check that your communications parameters are set to: 1 start bit, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit, and 19.2k baud. The DX80 Gateway uses Modbus RTU protocol, supporting Modbus function codes 3, 6, and 16.

How to fix high missed packet count during a site survey for a Banner Microphone system?
    • B
      Bradley SheppardAug 25, 2025
If a site survey (RSSI) returns more than 30 missed packets on your Banner Microphone system, the distance between devices may be too great (over 5,000 meters or 3 miles line-of-sight), or obstructions are interfering with the signal. Try these steps: * Raise the DX80 units to a higher elevation by physically moving the devices or installing the antenna(s) remotely. * Use high-gain antennas like Yagi and/or Omni. * Decrease the distance between devices.

What does '*ERROR' on the Banner Microphone system DX80 display mean?
    • M
      Michelle PotterAug 29, 2025
If the Banner Microphone system DX80 Display shows *ERROR, it indicates that the Gateway hasn't received acknowledgements from a Node after several polling cycles, leading it to believe the link has timed out. Consequently, all outputs on the Node will be set to “OFF” (discrete) or “0” (analog). If the Node’s RF link recovers and the Gateway receives enough polling messages, the link will be reinstated, and outputs will return to their current values.

What to do if some inputs or outputs are not working on my Banner Microphone system?
    • S
      Stephen PatrickSep 2, 2025
If specific inputs or outputs aren't functioning on your Banner Microphone system: * Use manual scrolling mode within *RUN to freeze the I/O status on the LCD display for the device in question and verify that when the input device changes state or changes value, the LCD mirrors the behavior. * Also verify that the LCD on the output side mirrors the linked input’s behavior. If the input device state, LCD on origination DX80, and LCD on destination DX80 all behave exactly the same, there may be a wiring issue or an interfacing problem.

What to do if my Banner Microphone system has no LEDs and no LCD display?
    • J
      Joanne MeltonNov 19, 2025
If your Banner Microphone system has no LEDs and no LCD display, consider the following: * For Gateway, LED 1 will always be green when power is connected. * Node devices will flash a red LED 2 every three seconds or a green LED 1 every second depending upon the RF Link status. * Recheck the power connections and power requirements. Line powered devices require 10 to 30V dc. The DX81 Battery Module provides 3.6V dc. * After replacing the battery, allow up to 60 seconds for the device to power up. * DX80 devices should immediately display ‘POWER’ on the LCD for the first 5-10 seconds after power is applied. * Battery powered devices can be put into a power-down mode using button 1 on the front panel. To put a battery device into power-down mode, hold button 1 for three to five ...
