The following troubleshooting procedures assume the excitation system components are properly
matched, fully operational, and correctly connected. If you do not obtain the results that you expect from
the DECS-150, first check the programmable settings for the appropriate function.
Communications
BESTCOMSPlus Metering Incorrect
If power factor, var, or watt readings are significantly different from the expected readings for a known
load, verify that the B-phase current sensing input of the DECS-150 is connected to a CT on phase B and
not phases A or C.
No Communication
If communication with the DECS-150 cannot be initiated, check the connections at the communication
ports.
No Communication Through the USB Port
A failure to establish communication through the USB port may be caused by a failure of the automatic
installation of the DECS-150 USB driver in Windows
®
. This condition is indicated by a Driver Software
Installation error message. To install the DECS-150 USB driver manually, perform the following steps.
Step 1: Open the Windows Device Manager. Under Other Devices, right-click on DECS-150 (or Unknown
Device) and select Properties.
Step 2: In the Properties window, select the Driver tab and click the Update Driver button.
Step 3: Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then navigate to:
C:\Program Files\Basler Electric\USB Device Drivers\USBIO
Install the USB driver software. Successful installation will be indicated by a confirmation message.
