O. WINTERISING ADVISE AND PROCEDURE
Pool winterising can only be applied to outdoor pools and is used to protect them and their equipment during the
cold period of winter. The temperature of the cold water prevents the development of bacteria and viruses, it is not
necessary to operate the water treatment equipment (UV reactor, dosing pumps ..), only an anti-algae and anti-
limescale treatment is necessary (BIO-UV HIVER) to ensure a good quality of water throughout the winter
« A properly winterised pool is easier to start up again in the spring. »
TO DO when the water temperature will drop below 15°C:
➢ Clean the screens of the skimmers.
➢ Remove any leaves and dirt from the pool and the buffer tank (don’t forget to remove them regularly during
autumn and winter, as they can stain pool surfaces)
➢ Adjust the pH to 7,4
➢ Put the strainers of the PH and persistent dosing pumps in a bucket of water and make them inject to flush the
transparent pipes and the injection valves
➢ Stop the PH and Tempo (persistent) dosing pump, and adjust the timer at 7h05 as indicated in the user
manuals.
➢ Disconnect and remove the PH probe (filtration stopped, valves closed), store it with its cap filled with water
protected from frost and mount a cap on the probe base on the piping
➢ Switch off the UV reactor with the switch below the electrical enclosure bonnet of UV reactor (or unplug the
lamp connector for the DELTA models)
➢ Pour a shock dose of BIO-UV CHOC, at a rate of 2 L / 10m3 (to be poured directly into one of the skimmers)
with filtration in operation for 48 hours. Brush the inside of the pool several times during these 48 hours
➢ After 48 hours, clean the pump pre-filter and thoroughly wash the filter system (minimum 3 minutes).
➢ Pour BIO-UV HIVER, which has a special anti-algae
and anti-limescale formula, directly into the pool at
the rate of 0.5 to 0.7 L / 10m3, (depending on how
hard the water is).
➢ Allow the filter system to operate for a few hours
each night.
➢ Increase the filtration time if the cold becomes
stronger
➢ Bring the level of water in the pool down to below
the skimmers.
➢ Pour BIO-UV HIVER, which has a special anti-
algae and anti-limescale formula, directly into the
pool at the rate of 0.5 to 0.7 L / 10m3, (depending
on how hard the water is). Let the system run via
the bottom drain for a day to obtain a consistent
mix.
➢ To avoid any risk of frost damages, drain the UV
reactor as well as the other risky piping and
equipment.
