iDirect Modem Options:
iDirect’s Auto Beam Selection provides the mobile user coverage with a single modem without
having to reconfigure the modem when moving between different regions that possess different
satellite beams to have continuous coverage.
Password
The default password is “P@55w0rd!” which is based on most iDirect modem requirements.
Password must be entered to have modem controller communication. Check with
integrator/service provider if password does not work.
Enable iDirect Broadcast
The Controller can be configured to broadcast with iDirect service by putting a checkmark in the
box. This allows iDirect users with broadcast configured modems, to lock onto a DVB carrier,
and enable the transmitter in the iDirect modem automatically after peaking through the 7700
Series Controller.
Max SNR Beam
The satellite search routine will go through the list of available beams in search for the
one with highest SNR Signal. This operation will take some time to complete depending
on the number of beams available in the search list.
Dual Beam Search
When enabled and the modem is in Dual Beam mode, the Beam information will be used from
the Dual Beam table in the modem, the beam(s) is decided by the modem, Beam ID 1 and
Beam ID 2 will be filled with valid DVB settings. The FIND SATELLITE search will start
searching on the beam you selected, if the search fails on the first beam it will switch to the next
configured beam, this routine will go on until satellite is found or user clicks stop. Valid Beams
refer to Beam 1 and Beam 2 and must exist in the modem Dual Beam table. Beam 1 and Beam
2 cannot be the same, if they are the Dual Beam Search option selection becomes invalid. Dual
Beam Search option is valid only when “Read Carrier From Modem” is enabled.
Auto Start
The satellite search will start automatically without having to press the FIND SAT button if dual
beam mode is active, when communication between the modem and controller is
established/re-established unless the platform is in stow position. This will hold true on initial
power up or after a power recycle on either controller or modem. The system will not start auto
search if the EL Stow and EL Down limits are on. The platform must have an EL angle position
greater than 10 degrees as well both the “Dual Beam Search” and the “Read Carrier from
Modem” must be enabled for the “Auto Start” feature to work. Auto Start and Dual Beam Search
will be valid only if modem has dual beams (2 Beams). If Modem has more than 2 beams “Auto
Start” will not become active even if the option is enabled.
