Beforeusingthemachine

Donotoperatethismachineorperformany
lubrication,maintenance,orrepaironituntil
youhavereadandunderstoodtheoperation,
lubrication,maintenance,andrepairinforma-
tion.
Failuretocomplywillresultindeathorseri-
ousinjury.

Beforeoperatingthismachine,besuretodothe
following:
1.Checkthelevelofalluids(engineoil,hydraulicuid
andcoolant)andmakesurethattheuidsandlubri-
cantsaresuitableforprevailingconditions.(Referto
pages6-5and4-11).
2.Carryoutthedailymaintenanceoperations.(Refer
topage6-1).
3.Inspectthemachine,lookforanysignsofpossible
leakageandcheckthehoses.Tightenorreplaceas
necessary.
4.Refertopage4-3ifthemachineisneworiftheen-
ginehasbeenreconditioned.
5.Checkthetrackassemblies.(Refertopage6-50).
6.Cleanthestepsandaccesshandles.Grease,oil,
mudorice(inwinter)onthestepsandaccesshan-
dlescancausesaccidents.Makesuretheyarekept
cleanatalltimes.
7.Cleanorreplaceanydecalswhichareillegible.(Re-
fertopage2-8).
8.Makesurethattheenginehoodandthesidedoors
areproperlyclosedandlatched.
9.Securethecabdoorineitherfullyclosedorfully
openedposition.(Refertopage3-1).
10.Removeanyobstructionswhichhindervisibility.
Cleanthewindshield,thewindowsandtherearview
mirrors.
11.Checkthatnotoolsorotheritemshavebeenleft
onthemachine(beitontheundercarriageorthe
upperstructure)orintheoperator'scompartment.
12.Makesurenobodyisonorunderthemachine.The
operatormustbealoneonthemachine.
13.Makesurenobodyisstandinginthemachinework-
ingarea.
14.Findoutaboutcurrentsafetymeasuresinuseonthe
worksite.
15.Workoutaconvenientmeansofescapefromthe
machine(emergencyexitviathewindshield,therear
windowglass)intheeventofthemachineturning
overortippingoverorthecabdoorbeingjammed.
16.Beforeundertakinganytravelorworkingoperations
duringhoursofdarkness,makesurethelightingand
signallingequipmentisfullyoperative.

Whenoperatingthemachine,besuretodothefollowing:
1.Whenstartingtheengine,besuretousethecorrect
procedurefortheprevailingweatherconditions.(Re-
fertopage4-7).
2.Regularlyconsultthehourmetertoensurethatall
servicingoperationsarecarriedoutpunctually.
3.Ifyouuseyourmachineinparticularlyharshcondi-
tions(dustyorcorrosiveatmosphere),theservicing
intervalsshouldbereducedaccordingly.
4.Takenoteofthelocationsofpipes/cablesbefore
startingwork.
5.Donotworknearoverheadhigh-voltageelectriclines
withoutcheckingbeforehandthatallnecessarymea-
sureshavebeentakentorespecttheminimumdis-
tances:
Lessthan57000volts:3m(9.8ft)
Morethan57000volts:5m(16.4ft)
6.Whenworkingonapublichighway,usestandard
trafcsignsandtakeintoconsiderationtheworking
rangeoftheupperstructureanditsattachments.Lo-
calregulationsstipulatethenumber,typeandloca-
tionofreectorstrips.
7.Neveroperatetheworkingortravelcontrolsunless
youareproperlyseatedintheoperator'sseatwith
theseatbeltcorrectlyfastened.
8.Modifyyourdrivingtosuitthetypeofworkandwork-
ingconditions.
