TheDieselParticulateDiffuserpuriesexhaustgasofparticulatematter.
Thediffusercollectsparticulatematterinalterandcombustsitautomaticallyafteracertainamounthasbeencol-
lected.
BesuretoobservethefollowingtoavoidproblemswiththeDieselParticulateDiffuser:
•
Whitesmokemaybeproducedduringcombustion.
•
DonotregeneratetheDieselParticulateDiffuserinabadlyventilatedroom.
•
Usegenuineorthespeciedengineoil.(Refertopage6-5).
Anyotherengineoilmaycauseproblemswiththeengineanddiffuserresultinginamalfunction.
•
Usethespeciedstandardfuel.(Refertopage6-5).
Low-qualityfuel,dewateringagent,andfueladditivesmaycauseproblemswiththeengineanddiffuserresultingin
amalfunction.
•
Whenacertainamountofparticulatematterhasbeencollectedinthelter,thediffusercombuststheparticulate
matterautomatically.
However,thediffusercannotcompleteregeneration,dependingontheworkconditions.
Ifregenerationisincomplete,anorangelampwillblink.
Executemanualregenerationofthediffuserusingthespeciedprocedures.
Thisdoesnotimplyanyproblems,butratherrecoversthediffuserfunctions.

Theenginesoundandhydraulicoperationsoundchangeduringdiffuserregeneration.
Itdoesnotimplyanyproblems.

Whitesmokemaybeproducedtemporarilyfromthetailpipeasparticulatemattercombustionprogressesduring
diffuserregeneration.
Itdoesnotimplyanyproblems.
Donotexecuteregenerationinapoorlyventilatedroom.

Thesmellofexhaustgasfromthetailpipeisdifferentfromthatofanormaldieselcar.
Thedifferentsmellistheeffectoftheexhaustgaspuricationfunction.

Whitesmokeisproducediftheengineisstartedwhentheambienttemperatureislowandtheengineiscool.The
whitesmokedoesnotimplyanyproblems.
•
Thetimeuntilcompletionofregenerationdifferswiththeambienttemperature.
•
Donotleavethemachineunattendedduringregeneration.
ATTENTION:TheDieselParticulateDiffuser,theexhaustpipethetailpipeandtheexhaustgasfromtheexhaust
systemareextremelyhotwhiletheengineisrunning,duringDieselParticulateDiffuserregenerationandimmediately
afterdriving.Becarefulnottoinadvertentlytouchthem.Otherwise,youcouldgetburned.Keepthemachineaway
fromanycombustibleobjectsuchashayandpaperdust.
ATTENTION:Besuretostoptheenginewhenyouperformmaintenanceworktoavoidgettingburned.
ATTENTION:Besuretoclosetheenginehoodproperly.Otherwise,theexhaustgasgeneratedduringDPDregen-
erationmeltstheinsulationandtheothermaterialinsidetheenginehood,causingdamagetothemachine
NOTICE:DonotmodifytheDieselParticulateDiffuserandtheexhaustsystem.Changingtheorientation,lengthor
diameteroftheexhaustpipewouldadverselyaffecttheexhaustsystem’sexhaustemissionreductionfunction.
