Appendix B: EasyPrep and EasyPrep Plus Vessels
ESP-1500+ Pressure Control (Optional)
The optional ESP-1500+ provides pressure control for the MARS 6 system utilizing an internal Electronic Sensor for
Pressure (ESP). The ESP is designed for use with the Easy Prep and Easy Prep Plus vessels.

All vessels must contain the exact same amount of reaction components and the total volume must meet the
minimum cavity load; 50 mL with medium microwave absorbing solvents and 20 mL with high microwave absorbing
solvents. Contact CEM Corporation before using any low absorbing solvents. See “Microwave Solvent Chart” for
details.
New Liner and Cover Conditioning
All new liners and covers should be conditioned as a set prior to being put into service. The break-in procedure is
used to condition the Teon® to ensure a proper seal.
WARNING
Proper precautions must be taken to avoid contact with solvents or solvent vapors. Protective gear should
be worn as outlined in the user’s safety program for hazardous materials and the solvent manufacturer’s
safety data sheet. Refer to these guidelines for proper handling and disposal of the solvents.
1. Use hot soapy water and foam brush to clean the liners and covers. Rinse thoroughly with DI water and allow
to dry completely before use.
2. Add 20mL of tap water. The minimum cavity load for water is 50mL so more than one vessel is required.
3. Assemble and torque each vessel. See “Vessel Assembly” for detailed instructions.
4. Select and load the “Easy Prep Clean” method from the One Touch directory.
5. Place vessels on turntable and insert the turntable into the cavity. See “Turntable Setup” and for detailed
