Approximately 90% of of the grain needs to be separated by the time the crop leaves the
drum. This means that the remaining 10% has to be separated by the straw walkers.
ISS
Above every straw walker there is an agitator tine, that is positioned at the rear of the
walker. These tines are designed to agitate the material and allow the clean grains to
fall onto the preparation pan.
Straw curtain
As the crop leaves the beater a straw retarding
curtain is fitted to control the throw of the
material on the walkers. A chain (1) on the
LHS of the machine body allows the angle of
this to be altered. Raise the curtain using clip
(A) in heavy, long-straw crops and where a lot
of green crop is encountered.
It is essential to lower the curtain again in
short-straw light crops.
