Planned Maintenance
Parking Brakes
Operate parking brakes;
multifunction
handle
for
all
hydraulic
controls
lift,
tilt, reach
and
side
shift
(if
installed);
directional controls;
and
steering
system.
Be
sure
all
controls
operate
freely
and
return
to
neutral
properly.
The NPR
17-20
Reach truck
is
equipped with hydraulic release/spring
applied brakes. This brake system along with
all
types
of
brake systems
need periodic checks
to see if
everything
is
working properly.
To
check
the
brake system. Push
the
brake
pedal
fully down
and
hold.
The
brakes should
be
released when
the
pedal reaches
the
floorplate.
To
check brake holding capability
and
adjustment, park
the
lift
truck
on
a
grade
and
release
the
brake pedal.
The
brake should hold
a
lift
truck
with rated load
on a 5%
grade. When
the
pedal
is
depressed
the
brakes
should
not
drag.
If
you
have
a
malfunction
report
the
failure
immediately.
Do not
operate
the
truck until
the
brakes
are
repaired.
The
brake master cylinder
is
located underthe
floor
board,
it is
supplied
with
fluid
from
the
brake
fluid
reservoirthat
is
located
in the
left
side door.
The
brake system should
be
checked between
50 to 250
operating
hours.
CAUTION
Do not
operate
a
lift
truck
if the
parking brakes
is not
operating properly.
