Upright
Load
Backrest
Overhead Guard

Be
sure that
it is
properly
positioned
and all
mounting
fas-
teners
are in
place
and
tight.
Load Backrest
Check
the
load backrest
for
dam-
age. Inspect
the
welds
on the
car-
riage
and
load backrest
for
cracks.
Be
sure that
the
mounting fasten-
ers
are all in
place
and
tight.
Upright
Assembly
Inspect
the
upright
assembly: rails, carriage rollers,
lift
chains,
and
lift
and
tilt cylinders. Look
for
obvious wear
and
maintenance
problems,
damaged
or
missing
parts. Check
tor
any
loose parts
or
fittings. Check
for
leaks,
any
damaged
or
loose rollers,
and
rail wear (metal flaking).
Inspect
all
lift line hydraulic connections
for
leaks
Lift
Chain
Carefully
check
the
lift
chains
for
wear, rust,
and
corrosion, cracked
or
broken links, stretching, etc.. Check that
the
lift
and
carriage chains
are
adjusted
to
have equal tension. Check that
the
lift
chain anchor
fasteners
and
locking means
are in
place
and
tight.
WARNING
Uprights
and
lift
chains require special attention
to
maintain them
in
safe operating condition.
•
Uprights
can
drop suddenly. Look
at the
upright,
but
keep hands out.
•
Lift
chain repairs
and
adjustments
should
be
made
by
trained service personnel.
