4.4.5.2 Load limiter (*optional)
The MEWP can be supplied with a load limiting system as *optional,
thanks to a load cell mounted on the basket support.
When the MEWP exceeds its maximum permitted capacity (230
kg/507 lb), the logic system detects the overload and stops the
work operations, warning with a continuous acoustic signal.
During the movement of the MEWP aerial part, reaching the maximum
load allowed, the load limiter safety device activates:
o Overload until 20 kg (signaled by the intermittent lighting of the
load limiter led and by an intermittent acoustic warning): in this
case, operations remain active, even if this signal warns the user
about the danger; the signal will stop only removing the overload
from the basket.
o Overload > 20 kg (indicated by the fix lighting of the load limiter led
and by a continuous acoustic warning): the load limiter safety de-
vice stops all operations of the extendable structure; the signal will
stop only removing the overload from the basket.
➔ The operator must remove the overload from the basket to con-
tinue the work with the MEWP.
It is strictly forbidden to use the MEWP when the load limiter
warning is on. Remove the exceeding load from the basket until
the acoustic signal and the corresponding light turn off.
4.4.5.3 Anti-crash system
When the machine is stabilized in the predefined areas, both with tracks
resting on the ground and raised, the stabilizers with their curved structure
can reach a height greater than that of the machine frame.
Furthermore, the engine pack with the fuel tank has a considerable bulk,
which comes out from the rear shape of the chassis.
The anti-crash system, supplied as standard device, does not allow the
aerial part (pantograph, boom, jib) to have accidental impacts with these
bulky parts mounted on the frame and the stabilizers, blocking the move-
ments operated by means of logic parameters set via software.
When activated, it is signaled by an audible alert.
In order to unlock the machine, it is necessary to press the dead
man anti-crash bypass button 12 (Picture 5) on the basket control
station together with the desired maneuver.
If, during the descent of the pantograph or booms, the machine gets
blocked (anti-crash system activated), after ensuring it could be contin-
ued this operation in safety, it will be necessary to continue the closing
operations by pressing and holding the button 12 simultaneously to the
operation joysticks. The sudden or intentional release of that button will
immediately disable the operation carried out.
4.4.6 MEWP positioning in the transport configuration
15. To place the MEWP in the transport position, it is necessary to first
operate the aerial part closing, by using the platform (operating)
control station:
o return the boom,
o center the turret,
o lower the jib,
o return the pantograph on their support.
WARNING! Center the turret before lowering the pantograph.
16. Close the tracks, moving the corresponding lever 5 (Picture 7)
(*optional).
During these operations, keep away from the tracks and pay
attention to your feet.
19. Unfasten safety belts and get off the basket using its underlying
step.
20. Then destabilize the MEWP, performing the withdrawal of the out-
riggers by the proper levers 1, 2, 3, 4 (Picture 7).
