Using the OSD
On-Screen Display
The On-Screen Display (OSD) is for use with the 4-Port, 8-Port, and Dual
Console 8-Port units. If you are using a 2-Port switch box, see Chapter 5,
“Using the Simplified OSD.”
Alternate Languages
The Compaq Server Console Switch Software Utility CD contains an update
to the OSD for languages other than English. See the CD for information on
using this utility.
NOTE: Language selection is not available on the 2-Port switch.
Functions
Use the OSD to perform the following basic functions:

Assign device types if you have secondary switches attached to a
primary switch (tiering)
■
Assign unique names to computers
