4. Locate the SW50 Clear CMOS switch on the system board.

5. Press the SW50 Clear CMOS switch to clear the workstation CMOS.
6. Replace the workstation access panel.
7. Reconnect the network cable and external devices.
8. Plug in the workstation and turn on the power.
NOTE:
When the SW50 Clear CMOS switch is pressed, your passwords will become invalid because the
passwords are stored in the configuration memory. You will need to reset your passwords and any
special system setups.
Diagnostics Utilities
You must create a diagnostics diskette as soon as you begin to use the workstation. This is a
bootable diskette that allows you to test and inspect the hardware outside the operating system
environmentally running the Computer Checkup (TEST) or View System Information
(INSPECT) diagnostic programs.
Another Compaq diagnostics tool is Diagnostics for Windows NT, which runs under
Windows NT Workstation. For information on how to use Diagnostics for Windows NT, see
“Compaq Diagnostics for Windows NT” later in this chapter.
Creating a Diagnostics Diskette
