3. Press outward on both latches of the RIMM at the same time 1. This releases the
SDRAM expansion board and pushes it partially out of the socket.
4. Lift the expansion board from the socket 2.

5. Remove the DIMM module from the SDRAM expansion board by pressing outward on
the latches that hold the DIMM to the expansion board.
DIMM Installation
To install a DIMM memory module:
IMPORTANT:
Before installing a SDRAM expansion board, read the previous section, “Important
Guidelines for DIMM Installation.”
1. Perform the steps in the “Service Preparations” section as previously shown.
CAUTION:
Before removing the workstation access panel, ensure that the workstation is
turned off, all cables are disconnected from the back of the workstation, and the power cord is
disconnected from the grounded AC outlet.
2. Remove the workstation access panel.
WARNING:
DIMMs can reach a temperature of 212
°
F (100
°
C) in a matter of minutes. Caution
should be exercised whenever removing or replacing these components.
