Appendix 14: Water Pressure Charts
Pipe sizes for water delivery to the unit must take into account water pressure loss. The Coolerado system requires a minimum of 25
psi (172 kPa) at each unit to have adequate water distribution. Water pressure can vary dramatically from day to night due to
irrigation, municipal demand, or other events. This makes it difficult to determine the water pressure that will be available for use.
For this reason, it is best to reduce the water pressure losses through the piping, valves, and fittings. To assist in selecting pipe sizes
please consult the tables below.
NOTE: Higher pressure drops are not recommended but rather are shown to help understand the significance of larger pipe sizes.
NOTE: For every 2.3’ (0.7 m) of height above where the water is measured, there is 6 psi (41 kPa) decrease in pressure due to
gravity.
