d. Remove filters.
If the unit has had a buildup of minerals on the face it should be cleaned. When a unit has been used with
sodium or potassium based water softener easily dissolved salts can collect on the inlet of the HMX’s and can be
rinsed off. If the unit has been operated without a water softener you may need to use a spray bottle to apply
non-diluted white or distilled vinegar to all areas where there is a buildup of white salts to loosen the calcium
deposits. In low total dissolved solids in the water areas no cleaning will be necessary.
