SafeHandling of Gasoline:
Toavoidpersonalinjuryor propertydamageuseextremecare in
handlinggasoline.Gasolineis extremelyflammableandthevaporsare
explosive.Seriouspersonalinjurycanoccurwhengasolineis spilled
onyourselfor yourclotheswhichcanignite.Washyour skinand
changeclothesimmediately.
Useonlyan approvedgasolinecontainer.
Neverfill containersinsidea vehicleor ona truckor trailerbed
witha plasticliner.Alwaysplacecontainersonthegroundaway
fromyourvehiclebeforefilling.
Whenpractical,removegas-poweredequipmentfromthe truck
ortrailerand refuelitonthe ground.Ifthisis notpossible,then
refuelsuchequipmenton a trailerwitha portablecontainer,rather
thanfroma gasolinedispensernozzle.
Keepthe nozzleincontactwiththerimofthe fueltankor
containeropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingis complete.Donotuse
a nozzlelock-opendevice.
Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipesandothersourcesof
ignition.
Neverfuel machineindoors.
Neverremovegascapor addfuelwhiletheengineishotor run-
ning.Allowenginetocool atleasttwo minutesbeforerefueling.
Neveroverfillfueltank.Fill tankto nomorethan1/2inchbelow
bottomoffiller necktoallowspaceforfuel expansion.
Replacegasolinecapandtightensecurely.
Ifgasolineisspilled,wipe itoff theengineandequipment.Move
unitto anotherarea.Wait5 minutesbeforestartingthe engine.
To reducefirehazards,keepmachinefreeofgrass, leaves,or
otherdebrisbuild-up.Cleanupoil orfuel spillageand removeany
fuelsoakeddebris.
Neverstorethe machineorfuelcontainerinsidewherethereisan
openflame,sparkor pilotlightas on awaterheater,spaceheater,
furnace,clothesdryerorothergasappliances.
OPERATION
Do notputhandsorfeetnear rotatingparts.Contactwiththe
rotatingpartscanamputatehandsand feet.
Do notoperatemachinewhileundertheinfluenceofalcoholor
drugs.
Neveroperatethismachinewithoutgoodvisibilityor light.Always
be sureof yourfootingandkeepa firmholdonthehandles.
Keepbystandersawayfromthemachinewhileit isinoperation.
Stopthe machineif anyoneentersthe area.
Becarefulwhentillinginhardground.Thetines maycatchinthe
groundandpropelthetillerforward.Ifthis occurs,let goofthe
handlebarsanddo not restrainthemachine.
Exerciseextremecautionwhenoperatingonor crossinggravel
surfaces.Stayalertfor hiddenhazardsortraffic.Do notcarry
passengers.
Neveroperatethe machineat hightransportspeedson hardor
slipperysurfaces.
Exercisecautionto avoidslippingor falling.
Lookdownand behindandusecare whenin reverseor pulling
machinetowardsyou.
Startthe engineaccordingtothe instructionsfoundinthis manual
and keepfeetwellawayfromthe tinesatall times.
Afterstrikingaforeignobjector ifyourmachineshouldstart mak-
inganunusualnoiseor vibration,immediatelyshuttheengineoff.
Disconnectthe sparkplugwire,grounditagainstthe engineand
performthefollowingsteps:
a. Inspectfordamage.
b. Repairor replaceanydamagedparts.
c. Checkfor anyloose partsandtightento assurecontinued
safeoperation.
Disengageall clutchlevers(iffitted)and stopenginebeforeyou
leavethe operatingposition(behindthe handles).Waituntil
thetinescometo a completestopbeforeuncloggingthetines,
makinganyadjustments,or inspections.
Neverrunanengineindoorsorina poorlyventilatedarea.Engine
exhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,an odorlessanddeadlygas.
Mufflerandenginebecomehot andcancausea burn.Donot
touch.
Usecautionwhentillingnearfences,buildingsandunderground
utilities.Rotatingtinescan causepropertydamageor personal
injury.
Donotoverloadmachinecapacitybyattemptingtotill soiltoo
deepattoo fastof a rate.
Ifthe machineshouldstartmakinganunusualnoiseor vibration,
stoptheengine,disconnectthesparkplugwire andgroundit
againsttheengine.Inspectthoroughlyfor damage.Repairany
damagebeforestartingandoperating.
Keepallshields,guards,and safetydevicesinplaceandoperat-
ing properly.
Neverpick uporcarrymachinewhilethe engineis running.

factureras listedin thePartsListpagesofthisoperator'smanual.

Checkboltsandscrewsforpropertightnessatfrequentintervals
to keepthemachineinsafeworkingcondition.Also,visually
inspectmachineforanydamage.
Beforecleaning,repairing,or inspecting,stopthe engineand
makecertainthetinesandall movingpartshavestopped.
Disconnectthesparkplugwireandgrounditagainstthe engineto
preventunintendedstarting.
