Tire Pressure
Checktheair pressureinbothtires.Theairpressureshouldbe
between15-20PSI.Keepbothtiresequallyinflatedto helpprevent
machinefrompullingto one side.
Checking and Adding Oil
Theengineis shippedwithoutoil in theengine.Youmustfill the
enginewithoil beforeoperating.Runningthe enginewithinsufficient
_o cancauseserous engnedamageandvo d theproductwarranty.
Initial Use
1. Removetheoil fill dipstick.
2. Placethetiller on levelground,usea funnelto emptyentire
contentsoftheoil bottleprovidedwiththeunit intothe engine.
3. Replacetheoil fill dipstickandtighten.
Checkingand adding oil
1. Placethetiller ona flat,levelsurface.
2. Removetheoil fillercap/dipstickandwipethe dipstickclean.See
Figure8.

3. Insertthecap/dipstickintotheoilfiller neck,butdo notscrewitin.
4. Removetheoil fillercap/dipstick.Ifthe levelislow,slowlyaddoil
untiloil levelregistersbetweenhigh(H) and low(L), Figure8.
NOTE:Donotoverfill.Overfillingwithoil maycausesmoking,hard
starting,or sparkplugfouling.
5. Replaceandtightencap/dipstickfirmlybeforestartingengine.
NOTE:DONOTallowoil leveltofall belowthe"L"markon the
dipstick.Doingso mayresultinequipmentmalfunctionsordamage.
NOTE:Tochangethe oilon yourengine,see the Sericeand
Maintenancesectionof thismanual.
Fuel Recommendations
Useautomotivegasoline(unleadedor lowleadedto minimizecombus-
tionchamberdeposits)witha minimumof87 octane.Gasolinewith
up to 10%ethanolor 15%MTBE(MethylTertiaryButylEther)can be
used.Neverusean oil/gasolinemixtureordirty gasoline.Avoidgetting
dirt, dust,or waterinthe fueltank.DONOTuse E85gasoline.
* Refuelina well-ventilatedareawiththe enginestopped.Donot
smokeorallowflamesor sparksin the areawherethe engineis
refueledor wheregasolineisstored.
. Donot overfillthefueltank.After refueling,makesurethe tank
capis closedproperlyandsecurely.
. Becarefulnotto spillfuelwhenrefueling.Spilledfuelorfuelvapor
mayignite.Ifany fuelis spilled,makesurethe areaisdry before
startingthe engine.
. Avoidrepeatedor prolongedcontactwithskinorbreathingofvapor.
Adding Fuel
Useextremecarewhenhandlinggasoline.Gasolineisextremely
flammableandthevaporsareexplosive.Neverfuelthemachine
indoorsorwhilethe engineishotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,
cigars,pipesandothersourcesof ignition.
1. Besureengineis outdoorsandina well-ventilatedarea.
2. Cleanareaaroundthefuelfillcapandremovethefuelfill cap.
3. UsinganapprovedredGASOLINEcontainer,addfuelslowly,being
carefultoavoidspilling.
4. Fillthetankuntilthe fuelreachesthe "fuelfull"indicatormark.See
Figure9.
