STARTING
Start Engine
Exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, a
colorless, odorless, poisonous gas.
Do not operate the unit in enclosed areas.
Provide adequate ventilation at all times.
Engine exhaust may ignite combustible ma-
terials and cause a fire.
Keep the area around the exhaust outlet
clear. Locate the unit so that the exhaust
outlet points toward an open area and is
located at least one meter (3.3 feet) from any
obstructions.
NOTE
0 Be aware of the following in order to start the en-
gine easily in cold weather.
O Use proper oil for temperature expected (See
FUEL AND OIL RECOMMENDATIONS chapter).
Use fresh gasoline.
o Protect the engine or the equipment from direct
exposureto weatherwhen not inoperation.
o Before startingthe engine,insureall possible ex-
ternalloads are disconnected.
OOpen the fuel valve (A) on theequipment.
OPut the engineswitchkey intothe engine switch.
For controlPanel SwitchType, move the throt-
tle leveron the equipmentto its halfwayposition.
Moving the lever away from its low speed end
turnsignitk_non.
OMove the throttle leverto its halfwaypositionbe-
tween lowspeed and highspeed.

For A Cold Engine - Place the throttle lever (A)
into"CHOKE"position.
For A Warm Engine (normal operating temper-
atures) - Place the throttlelever midway between
"SLOW'and "FAST"positions.
[Separate choke type]
ForA Cold Engine. Placethechokecontrol lever
into"CHOKE" position.
• Alter starting the engine, gradually return the
chokecontrollevertothe fully open position.
