4. COUPLING

The H16 is fitted with a 50mm ALKO Off-Road Coupling. It is ADR Rated to 3500 kg. For more

information and maintenance instructions, refer to the ALKO Coupling User Manual.

Make sure to only use a 50mm Australian Standard tow ball with this coupling as no other size

tow ball is safe to use with the coupling.

Check there is enough clearance on the tow hitch – see diagram below. Some tow bar designs

are not compatible with the off-road coupling.

To attach coupling to tow ball:

1. Rotate latch handle upward.

2. At the same time pull latch assembly up to lift tongue.

3. With the latch assembly pulled back, lower the coupling onto tow ball.

4. Release latch assembly.

5. Check that the latch has release and is engaged in the coupling head.

6. Ensure that the ball is fully latched by attempting to lift the coupling vertically off the

ball.

7. Connect all cable connectors and safety chains.

To detach coupling from tow ball:

1. Disconnect all cable connectors and safety chains.

2. Use the jockey wheel to take the weight off the ball until head of the coupling can

rotate.

3. Rotate latch handle upwards. (Same as when attaching)

4. At the same time pull latch assembly upward to release tow ball. (Same as when

attaching)

5. Raise the coupling from the tow ball.

6. Release latch assembly.
