5. Set the hand throttle at about half
throttle.

7. Turn the switch key to “Start” position.
8. Release the key as soon as the en-
gine starts. It will return to the ON
position.
9. It is normal for the preheat (glow plug)
indicator to come on after operating
the starter motor for more than 8
seconds.
WARNING
Do not operate the starter motor
continuously for more than 10
seconds.
If the engine does not start; turn
the switch to “OFF”, wait 30
seconds, and repeat the starting
procedure.
Never engage the starter motor be-
fore the engine stops turning.
10.Allow the engine to reach its normal
operating temperature before start-
ing work.
WARNING
Do not turn the key switch to the
START position while the engine
is running.

6. Fully depress the clutch pedal.
WARNING
As a safety feature, the engine will
not start unless the clutch pedal
is fully depressed.
