FAN BELT INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT

(2) Adjusting Bolt
Slightly loosen the attachment bolt on top
of the alternator. Loosen the adjusting
bolt below the alternator. Adjust belt ten-
sion by moving the alternator. While hold-
ing the alternator, tighten the adjusting
bolt, and then tighten the mounting bolt.
Recheck belt tension after tightening the
bolts.
Proper belt tension is determined by ap-
plying a force of 4.5 kg (0.92 lb.) at the
mid-point of the longest span of the belt.
The resulting deflection of the belt should
be 10 mm (0.39 in.).
Periodically empty the dust from the pre-
cleaner. Do not allow dust to collect
above the dust limit line marked on the
pre-cleaner housing.

CLUTCH PEDAL ADJUSTMENT
When clutch pedal travel becomes
excessive, loosen the locknut on the
clutch linkage, remove the clevis pin, and
adjust by turning the clevis. Adjust free
travel of the pedal within the range given
below, reinstall the clevis pin, and se-
cure with the locknut.
