Wheelchair tube too large for jaw. This position of the tube is also
possible if trying to use the WheelChair Mover on a wheelchair that is too
wide which will not allow the jaw to reach far enough to properly engage
the wheelchair.
15) To release the hitch: Grip and push down slightly on the hitch handle while pulling
the latch release, then move the handle up to move both jaws in and release the
wheelchair. Use the foot pedal if necessary to shift the hitch when backing away
from the wheel chair if needed to gain clearance around an O
2
bottle.
16) If the jaws do not retract when the hitch handle is moved up try again to push the
hitch handle down while pulling the latch release and with continued pressure on the
latch release pull up. Press on one and then the other foot pedal to move the jaws
away from the wheelchair.
17) Follow facility procedures when moving patients.
18) Before moving a patient with the Wheelchair Mover insure that anything worn by,
attached to, or held by the patient is clear of all movable parts of the wheelchair or
Wheelchair Mover.
Instruct and demonstrate to the patient where their hands, feet, and anything held by
the patient should be during transport.
19) Monitor the patient during transport. Stop immediately when a hazard to the patient
is observed or when their hands or feet move away from the wheelchair.
20) If an impact occurs to the Wheelchair Mover, wheelchair or patient, a qualified
individual must inspect the Wheelchair Mover before being used to transport
patients.
Any employee involved in an accident or injury involving the WheelChair Mover must
be retrained.
Follow facility procedures for patient injury or equipment damage.
