NOTE: There is a protective mylar sheet covering the M.2 2230 solid-state drive. This mylar sheet must be opened in
order to proceed with the removal procedure.
NOTE: Be careful when opening the mylar sheet as it can easily rip.
2. Remove the two screws (M2x2) that secure the M.2 2230 solid-state drive thermal plate to the system board.
3. Remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive thermal plate from the system board.
4. Slide and remove the M.2 2230 solid-state drive from the M.2 card connector on the system board.
NOTE: A thermal pad sticker is adhered to the system board underneath the M.2230 solid-state drive. If in the process
of replacing the M.2230 solid-state drive, the thermal pad is separated from the plate or gets adhered to the M.2
2230 solid-state drive, technicians must readhere the thermal pad to the system board before reinstalling the M.2 2230
solid-state drive to the system.
Installing the M.2 2230 solid-state drive
Prerequisites
If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation procedure.
Steps
1. Align the notch on the M.2 2230 solid-state drive with the tab on the M.2 card connector on the system board.
2. Slide the M.2 2230 solid-state drive into the M.2 card connector on the system board.
NOTE:
A thermal pad sticker is adhered to the system board underneath the M.2230 solid-state drive. If in the process
of replacing the M.2230 solid-state drive, the thermal pad is separated from the plate or gets adhered to the M.2
2230 solid-state drive, technicians must readhere the thermal pad to the system board before reinstalling the M.2 2230
solid-state drive to the system.
3. Align and place the M.2 2230 solid-state drive thermal plate.
4. Align the screw hole on the M.2 2230 solid-state drive thermal plate with the screw hole on the palm-rest and keyboard
assembly.
5. Replace the two screws (M2x2) to secure the M.2 2230 solid-state drive thermal plate to the system board.
6. Close the M.2 2230 solid-state drive mylar sheet to cover the M.2 2230 solid-state drive.
NOTE:
There is a protective mylar sheet covering the M.2 2230 solid-state drive. This mylar sheet must be closed after
the installation procedure.
