CAUTION: The processor socket pins are fragile and can be permanently damaged. Be careful not to bend
the pins in the processor socket when removing the processor out of the socket.
c Lift the processor out of the socket [3].
NOTE: After removing the processor, place it in an antistatic container for reuse, return, or temporary
storage. Do not touch the bottom of the processor to avoid damage to the processor contacts. Touch only
the side edges of the processor.
Installing the processor
1 Place the processor on the socket such that the slots on the processor align with the socket keys [1].
CAUTION
: The pin-1 corner of the processor has a triangle that aligns with the triangle on the pin-1 corner on the
processor socket. When the processor is properly seated, all four corners are aligned at the same height. If one or more
corners of the processor are higher than the others, the processor is not seated properly.
2 Close the processor shield by sliding it under the retention screw [2].
3 Lower the socket lever and push it under the tab to lock it [3].
