Cleaning and disinfecting
Particular care in matters of hygiene is required during preparation and inhalation because
of the mist particle size that can enter the alveoli� The nebulisation of medicines should
only be carried out with medicine cups�
Warning! Do not use flammable or other explosive liquids as a contact liquid or an aerosol�
Preparation: Remove the intravenous device and tubing from the nebuliser chamber and
the bacteria filter� Pull the nebuliser chamber cover off the nebuliser chamber�
Procedure: The individual parts of the ultrasonic nebuliser can be cleaned and disinfected in
accordance with the details in the following table�
Warning! Before cleaning or disinfecting, the device must be disconnected from any exter-
nal power supply, as otherwise there is a risk of an electric shock�
When doing this, please note the following:
1� The parts must be cleaned and then dried before they are disinfected� Dirt particles can
become encapsulated and this can lead to the device parts not being sterile after disin-
fection� Therefore, before disinfection, all device parts must be cleaned properly and any
stubborn marks must be removed with a cloth and detergent�
2� When using disinfectant, please follow the manufacturers’ advice and that of hygiene
experts�
Warning! Risk of injury! Disinfectants can contain substances which are harmful to health,
and which can cause injury if they come into contact with skin and eyes� Protect
your skin and eyes and when working with disinfectants, observe the hygiene
regulations�
Caution! Changes in materials! Almost all components of the ultrasonic nebuliser are made
of plastic� Solvents, many disinfectants or cleaners can partially dissolve plastics or
cause stress cracks� Therefore do not use a solution which contains hydrocarbon or
alcohol to clean the surfaces�
3� After disinfection in the solution, all device parts must be rinsed thoroughly with water
and then dried immediately�
4� Autoclaving with heated steam can cause changes in materials�
Caution! Changes in materials! Autoclaving with heated steam will accelerate the natural
ageing process of plastics� Changes in material can affect the functionality of the
device parts�
5� After cleaning, you must carry out a functional check�
Caution! Functional check! After cleaning or disinfecting, you must check that the device
parts are functioning correctly�
