Overview

This document is an installation guide for the Directed 3305 & 3105 systems, which are designed for professional installation in vehicles. The systems incorporate various security and convenience features, including remote control capabilities, sensor inputs, and programmable outputs.

Function Description:

The Directed 3305 & 3105 systems are vehicle security and remote start systems that offer a range of functionalities to enhance vehicle protection and user convenience. Key functions include:

  • Arming/Disarming: The system can be armed and disarmed using a remote control, with options for active or passive arming/locking. Passive arming automatically arms the system after the last door is closed, while active arming requires manual activation.
  • Door Lock Control: The system can control vehicle door locks, offering single or double pulse unlock/lock options. It can also be programmed for ignition-controlled domelight supervision, where the domelight illuminates for 30 seconds when the ignition is turned off.
  • Trigger Inputs: The system monitors various trigger inputs, including door triggers (instant and progressive), instant trigger input (Zone 1), door trigger input (Zone 3), and ignition input (Zone 5). These inputs are used to detect unauthorized entry or activity.
  • Siren Output: A siren output is provided to alert the user of a security breach. The siren duration can be programmed for 30 or 60 seconds.
  • Parking Light Output: The system can control the vehicle's parking lights, which can be programmed to flash upon arming/disarming or during a security event. The polarity of the parking light output is selectable.
  • Channel 2 Output: A 200mA channel 2 output is available for controlling additional accessories or functions.
  • Channel 3 Programmable Output: A 200mA channel 3 programmable output offers versatile control over various functions, including validity, latched, latch/reset with ignition, timed (30 seconds), factory alarm disarm (FAD), factory alarm trigger (FAT), and second unlock output.
  • Domelight Supervision: A 200mA (-) domelight supervision output is provided to control the vehicle's domelight, illuminating it for 30 seconds when the system is disarmed or the ignition is turned off.
  • Bypassing Sensor Inputs: The system allows for temporary bypassing of sensor inputs during remote start, preventing false alarms.
  • System Features Learn Routine: A learn routine allows users to program various system features and settings using the Control Center button and remote control.
  • Diagnostics: The system monitors and reports active and violated zones when arming and disarming. LED flashes indicate the active or violated zone, and siren chirps indicate system status.
  • Long Term Event History: The system stores the last two full triggers in memory, providing a record of security events.
  • Multi-Level Security Arming: This feature allows the operator to select which inputs and sensors are active during a particular arming cycle.
  • VRS (Vehicle Recovery System): An optional feature designed to disable a vehicle during a carjacking event.
  • NPC (Nuisance Prevention Circuitry): This feature bypasses any zone that triggers the system more than three times within a one-hour period, helping to prevent false alarms.
  • Rapid Resume Logic: Ensures that when the system is powered up, it returns to the same state it was in before power was disconnected.
  • Code Hopping: Employs a mathematical algorithm to change the remote control's code each time it communicates with the receiver, enhancing security.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Main (Primary) Harness, White 12-pin connector:
    • ORANGE: (-) 500mA GWA (Ground When Armed) Output

    • WHITE/BLUE: (-) 200mA CHANNEL 3 PROGRAMMABLE OUTPUT
    • BLACK/WHITE: (-) 200mA DOMELIGHT SUPERVISION OUTPUT
    • GREEN: (-) DOOR TRIGGER INPUT, ZONE 3
    • BLUE: (-) INSTANT TRIGGER INPUT, ZONE 1
    • VIOLET: (+) DOOR TRIGGER INPUT, ZONE 3
    • BLACK: (-) CHASSIS GROUND INPUT
    • YELLOW: (+) SWITCHED IGNITION INPUT, ZONE 5
    • BROWN: (+) SIREN OUTPUT
    • RED: (+) CONSTANT POWER INPUT
    • RED/WHITE: (-) 200mA CHANNEL 2 OUTPUT
  • Door Lock Harness, White 3-pin connector:
    • LIGHT BLUE: 200 mA (-) UNLOCK, 200 mA (+) LOCK OUTPUT
    • EMPTY: NOT USED
    • GREEN: 200 mA (-) LOCK, 200 mA (+) UNLOCK OUTPUT
  • XKLOADER3/Directed SmartStart, Black 3-pin connector: Used for programming the unit and when using the optional Directed SmartStart module.
  • Optional Sensor Harness, White 4-pin connector:
    • RED wire: supplies constant (+) 12 volts
    • BLACK wire: supplies (-) Ground
    • BLUE and GREEN wires: multiplex sensor trigger inputs.
  • Power Input: Constant 12V supply to the ignition switch. A 15 amp fuse is required within 12 inches of the point of obtainment.
  • Output Current Limitations: Most low-current outputs (e.g., 200mA, 500mA) should not be connected directly to high-current devices without a relay.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control: The system supports two-way and one-way remote controls for arming, disarming, silent mode, panic, and controlling channel 3. Three-button configurations are also supported.
  • Control Center: The Control Center incorporates an LED and a valet switch. The LED provides visual feedback on system status, and the valet switch is used for programming and overriding the system.
  • Mounting the Control Center: The Control Center should be mounted in a location visible to the vehicle owner, ideally on the front windshield, and away from metal obstructions to ensure optimal antenna range.
  • Onboard Dual Stage Shock Sensor: The system includes an onboard dual-stage shock sensor with adjustable sensitivity.
  • Parking Light Jumper: A jumper is used to determine the parking light output polarity.
  • System Features Learn Routine: This routine allows users to customize various system settings, including arming/disarming chirps, ignition-controlled door locks, panic mode, door lock pulse duration, forced passive arming, automatic engine disable, armed when driving, code hopping, siren duration, NPC, progressive door trigger, valet pulse count, door trigger error chirp, ignition-controlled domelight supervision, single/double unlock/lock pulse, and channel 3 output type.
  • Pairing a Remote Control: The guide provides instructions for pairing new remote controls to the system.

Maintenance Features:

  • Troubleshooting: The guide includes a troubleshooting section for common security issues, such as starter disable not working, shock sensor not triggering the alarm, door input not immediately triggering a full alarm, closing the door triggers the system but opening the door does not, system not passively arming, and Control Center button/LED not working.
  • Government Regulations: The device complies with Part 15 of FCC rules and Industry Canada Radio Standards Specification RSS 210, with warnings against unauthorized changes or modifications that could void the user's authority to operate the device.
  • Professional Installation: The product is intended for installation by a professional installer only, as improper installation may result in injury, damage, or illegal use of the system.
  • Fuse Protection: A 15 amp fuse is required for the constant 12V power input to protect the system.
