Low-energy product
TheED 100/250 may be adjusted so that it meets the
requirements of a low-energy application (low-energy
operator) to DIN 18650, ANSI 156.19 and BS 7036-4.
During commissioning, the operator has to be adjusted in
accordance with the prevailing standard.
Therequiredsystemsafetyisensuredbythefollowing
means:
• Reduceddynamicforceatdoorleaf/contactforce
• Lowdrivingspeed
• Reducedstaticforceatdoorleaf/contactforce
• Forcelimitation
Theapplicationofadditionalsafetysensors(IRS-4)to
protecttheswingpathisnotexplicitlystipulatedbutshould
beconsideredasanoptioniftheindividualriskassessment
revealsthatfurthersensorsarerequired.Theprotectionof
thesecondaryclosingedgehastobeassessedindividually.
Risk assessment on the part of the installer
Duetospecialspatialconditionsandtheexpecteduser
groupsofthedoor,theapplicationofsafetysensorsmay,
however,alsobereasonableforalow-energyoperator.
Thereforethemanufacturer,i.e.theinstallerofthesystem,
hastoperformanindividualriskassessmentduringthe
planningofthedoorsysteminordertodecidewhether
additionalsafetyequipmentisrequiredornot.

Special requirements regarding the protection of people in
need of protection
Incasetheriskassessmentrevealsthatthereisahealthrisk
orriskofinjurycausedbythedoorhittingapersonusingthe
doorwithanunacceptableforce,anadditionalprotection
withtheaidofappropriatesafetyequipment(connectionofa
safetysensor)isrequired.
Thisisespeciallynecessarywhenpeopleinneedof
protection(children,elderlypeopleordisabledpeople)use
thedoor.
Dangers at closing edges
Automatic doors may cause hazards by crushing,
shearing, hitting and drawing-in at the different closing
edges.

excluded.
Allpeopleusingadooraregenerallyawareofthedanger
spotatthesecondaryclosingedgeofeveryswingdoor
(alsoatmanuallyoperateddoors).Thisdangerspotcannot
beinfluencedbythemanufactureroftheoperatoranda
protectionofthisclosingedgeoftencannotberealised
duetoitsconstructionandtechnicalfunction.Asuitable
clampingprotection(likearubberortextilecover)isavailable
inthespecialisedtradeandnotpartofthescopeofdelivery.
