3.7.1.2 Assembling the breathing system
Assemble the breathing system in accordance with the instructions in this chapter.
Inserting the inspiratory valve and the expiratory valve
The inspiratory valve and the expiratory valve must be fitted on the upper side of
the lower part of the breathing system.
There are recesses (A) on the valve cages of the inspiratory valve and the
expiratory valve. These recesses are arranged differently on the red valve cage
(inspiratory valve) (B) than on the blue valve cage (expiratory valve) (C).
Perform the following steps for the inspiratory valve (B) and the expiratory
valve (C):
1. Align the valves so that the recesses on the valve cages align with the
corresponding lugs on the lower part of the breathing system.
2. Insert the valves.
WARNING
Danger of insufficient oxygen concentrations and anesthetic gas
concentrations
If the component connections of the breathing system are not sufficiently
leak-tight, ambient air may get into the breathing gas.
Make sure that all components of the breathing system are connected
tightly.
