2 DALMx000 - System description
DALMx000 is primarily used as an external dialer and/or IP converter in fire and burglar alarm systems and
offers a secure transfer primarily via fixed Internet and secondarily via GPRS/3G.
Alarms may usually be sent via the GPRS/3G link even in low reception conditions down to 6 (of a max 31),
but during installation it is recommended that all the LEDs are lit (indicating a signal strength of 12 or more
of a max 31) when checked with DIP4. DALMx000 also send SMS and/or E-mail alarms and a total of 10/12
different SMS, E-mail or IP alarm receivers can be programmed into the devices.
DALMx000 has eight hardwired inputs for direct connection of alarm sensors or relay outputs from e.g. fire
alarm systems, four outputs for remote control or sirens and is also equipped with ”dialer capture”
functionality, meaning that DALMx000 can simulate an analogue telephone line and alarm receiver,
receive alarms from existing alarm systems on SIA or Contact ID format and convert and send encrypted
alarm messages via TCP/IP to alarm receiving centre(s).
DALMx000 can also emulate an analogue modem and can connect to the alarm system built-in modem,
for example in the GE NX Series, DSCs Power Series and Bosch 72xx and 74xx Series, for remote connection
from the respective company's standard software for uploading and downloading via either fixed Internet
or via GPRS/3G.
Alarm notifications via TCP/IP from DALMx000 can be received by alarm receiving centers equipped with a
standard SIA DC09 receiver or Dualtech's reception software IPEagleCMS (for the complete list of ARC´s,
please contact Dualtech IT). The device is supplied in a plastic enclosure or with mounting panels for
mounting in an existing system enclosure and is usually powered from the existing alarm system.
DALMx000 can send alarms to up to 10 or 12 (DALM5000) different receivers. Each of the alarm inputs is
connected independently to each other to the receiver(s) that will receive alarms upon activation of that
input, the same applies to the transmitter's internal error checks, e.g. GPRS/3G errors, Ethernet error etc.
Alarm transmission starts in the event of:
1. Activation of any of the hardwired inputs
2. Activation of alarm from any of the internal error checks (e.g. GPRS/3G error)
3. Activation of alarm via reception of dialed alarm notification of the Contact ID or SIA format from
connected analogue alarm dialer
4. Activation of alarm from alarm equipment connected to the DALM serial port(s)
Hardwired inputs
DALMx000 has eight hardwired inputs for activation of alarm transmission. Connection is made via screw
terminals for direct wire connection. Each of the inputs to be used is equipped with event codes and is
connected to the desired receiver during system programming. The inputs are activated via potential free
closure to or opening from system ground, depending on how they are configured during system
programming.
