Overview for the Authentication Method
When using Epson Print Admin Serverless, the authentication function can be used only with the printer on the
network.
Device Authentication (Local DB)
is
is the authentication method that checks the user information registered to the printer and the user who uses
the printing or scanning function. Because user information is associated with the job history, administrators can
learn the usage status for each user.
User information can be registered for up to 1,000 users, including users who are entered directly, imported by a
CSV le, and imported from the LDAP server.
You need to register the user information to the printer in advance.
External Authentication (Remote DB)
is is the authentication method that checks the user information of the external authentication method
synchronized with the printer. e following external authentication methods are available.
O Microso Entra ID authentication
O LDAP
Because the user information is temporarily stored to the printer as a cache for up to 1,000 users, it is available to
authenticate using the cache even when the external authentication method goes down.
You need to set up the external authentication method in advance.
Device Authentication and External Authentication
(Local DB and Remote DB)
is is the authentication method that checks the user information registered both in the printer and in the
external authentication method synchronized with the printer. e following external authentication methods are
available.
O Microso Entra ID authentication
O LDAP
When checking for user information, the rst search is performed on user information registered to the printer,
and then it searches the external authentication if the relevant information is not found. User information can be
registered for up to 1,000 users. e vacant portion is used as a cache for the external authentication, and the user
information of the external authentication is registered to the printer temporarily. If the external authentication
goes down, this cache can be used to authenticate users.
You need to register the user information to the printer and set up the external authentication method in advance.
