AdjustingtheParkingBrake
ServiceInterval:Aftertherst100hours
Every500hoursthereafter
Checktomakesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.This
proceduremustbefollowedaftertherst100hours
orwhenabrakecomponenthasbeenremovedor
replaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),move
themotioncontrolleverstotheneutrallocked
positionandsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andremovethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
CAUTION
Raisingthemowerdeckforserviceor
maintenancerelyingsolelyonmechanical
orhydraulicjackscouldbedangerous.The
mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmaynotbe
enoughsupportormaymalfunctionallowing
theunittofall,whichcouldcauseinjury.
DoNotrelysolelyonmechanicalorhydraulic
jacksforsupport.Useadequatejackstands
orequivalentsupport.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothe
“released”position.RefertotheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
8.Disengagetheparkbrake.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandloosen
thelocknutawayfromthestandardnut(see
Figure30).DoNotallowthecabletoturnwhen
thenutsarebeingloosened.

10.Removeallslackfromcablebypullingonthe
caliperleverarmwithamediumamountofforce.
Usinghandsandngersonly,pushthecaliper
leverarmtoengagethebrakepadsontherotor
untiltheleverstops.Whileholdingthelever
atthestoppedposition,usetheotherhandor
ngerstopulltheslackoutofthecablethreaded
endthroughtheswivel.Spinthestandardnut
againsttheswivel(see
Figure30).
Notetheorderofthestandardnutandlocknut
(nonutonthecableanchorsideoftheswivel).
11.Releasethecaliperleverandcable.Turnthe
wheelhubbyhandinbothdirectionsrelativeto
thecaliper;slightdragofthecaliperpadonthe
wheelhubisdesired.
12.Ifthereisnomovementbetweenthehubandthe
caliperthenbackoffthestandardnutoneturn
fromtheswivelandrepeatstep11(driverelease
valvesmustbeinthe“released”positiononthe
hydros).
13.Ifthehubmovesveryfreelyrelativetothecaliper,
thentightenthestandardnutoneturnagainstthe
swivelandrepeatstep
