4.8.18. For the “long” side of the 45° Angle Platform there are two welded Vertical Picket panels
which are inserted into the corner pockets then bolted together. Left hand and right
hand refer to looking at the “long” side from the “short” side. Insert both into their
respective corner pockets and align the bottom of the posts with the bottom of the
corner pockets. Bolt the two sections together using 5/16”-18 x 1” hex bolts, 5/16” flat
washers and 5/16”-18 nuts as shown (FIG 4.22). Tighten the set screws in the corner
pockets securely and install angle caps on top of the posts. Refer to Section 4.5 for
installing platform handrails and attaching angle caps.

4.8.19. Install an adjustable elbow in the ramp handrail closest to the right hand Vertical Picket
panel and a 1-1/2” diameter handrail tube to this elbow. Set the Handrail Support
Bracket so it is centered over the picket shown and set the 1-1/2” diameter handrail tube
in the saddle of the bracket (but do not attach) then trim the handrail tube so that a
second adjustable elbow will align (approximately) with the split between the Vertical
Picket panels (FIG. 4.23). The procedure for installing the 1-1/2” diameter handrail tubes
and adjustable elbows is the same as the installing the closure top rail.
