The operations described in this chapter must only be carried out by authorised and qualified
personnel, using suitable personal protective equipment. BEFORE WORKING ON THE UNIT, CUT OFF
POWER AND WATER SUPPLY.
4.1 Cleaning and maintenance programme
a) Before seasonal use
Carry out a general inspection of the unit, clean
the external parts, remove and thoroughly
clean the evaporative panels and air filters.
Inspect and clean internal parts, removing any
deposits of dirt, dust, leaves, etc. Reactivate
and check electrical connections and water
supply.
b) During the period of regular use (summer
season)
Always keep the timed water drain active to
prevent the development of germs and
bacteria harmful to health and the formation of
unpleasant odours, as described above (see
section 3.5). Empty the tank after each use.
Check the filter screens and panels at least
once a month; clean them if they are dirty or
clogged. Check that the correct amount of
water reaches the panels, so that they remain
always completely wet during operation.
c) At the end of the season
Disconnect the unit from the power and water
supply at the end of the summer season or
when the unit is not in use for long periods.
Carry out a thorough general cleaning of the
unit, empty the collection tank completely and
make sure that no water remains inside the
unit. Cover the cooler with a protective sheet
when it is not in use, to protect it from the
weather and prevent the accumulation of dirt
inside the unit.
4.2 Cleaning and maintenance operations
In all cleaning operations described in this section:
- do not use solvents or aggressive detergents
- do not direct high-pressure water jets at the device or its components.
a) Removal and cleaning of evaporative panels
and filters (mosquito screens) (Fig. 4.2.1)
Remove the filters from their housing by pulling
them upwards. Clean or wash the filters with a
soft brush.
To access the internal parts, remove the panel-
grill assembly by unscrewing the side fixing
screws. Grasp the grille at the top, tilt it
backwards and lift it slightly to extract it.
Clean the panels regularly to increase their
service life and maintain cooling efficiency. To
remove dust and dirt deposits, blow the panels
with compressed air, if needed wash them with
lukewarm water at low pressure and allow
them to dry before use.
