Activating the hard disk protection (ESPRIMO Mobile)
► Call up the BIOS Setup and select the Main menu.
► Highlight the Main HDD field and press the Enter key.
► Select the Change Password field and press the en ter key.
► Enter a password consisting of 4 to 8 alphanumeric characters.
The system does not distinguish between upper and lowe r case letters.
► Press the Enter key.
Confirm new Password will appear,
asking you to confirm the password.
► Enter the passwo rd again and press the Enter key.
Setup Notice: Changes have been
saved is displayed to confirm that the
new password has been saved.
The field Password Entry on Boot is set to Enabled by default.
You can exit the BIOS Setup now if y
ou have finished changing settings.
► From the Exit menu, choose the option Exit Saving Changes.
► Press th e Enter key and select Yes.
The notebook reboots and your hard disk is now protected with a password.
The system will ask you to enter the
password when the notebook is restarted again.
Cancelling the hard disk protection (LIFEBOOK)
To cance l a password without setti
ng a ne w one, proce ed as follows:
► Call up the BIOS Setup and select th
e Security menu.
► Mark the Hard D isk Security field and p ress the Enter key.
► In the Drive0 area mark the Set M ast
er Pa ssword fi eld and press the Enter key.
You will be initially requested to enter the old password by the Enter current Password prompt.
You will then be requested to enter a
new password by the Enter new Password prompt.
► After entering the password, press the Ente r key three times.
► From the Exit menu, choose the option
Exit Saving Changes.
► Press th e Enter key and select Yes.
The notebook reboots, and passwo rd pr
otection fo r the hard disk is cancelled.
► To cancel the p assword for the second hard disk ( Drive1), go to the Drive1 area
and select the field Set Master P assword, then proceed in exactly the same way as
for cancelling the password for the first hard disk (D rive0 ).
