Configuring password protection in BIOS Setup
BIOSSetup:
Before using the various options for password protection in the BIOS Setup to
increase data security, please note the following hints:
• Please m ake sure that you always reme mber your passwords, as y ou will
not be able to access your BIOS Setup and/or your system any longer if you
forget the user password and the supervisor password.
Passwords are not covere d by your warranty and a charge will
be made for assistance.
• Back up your data on external data carriers at regular intervals
Passwords can be up to eight characters long. You can use all alphanumeric characters
and need not distinguish between uppercase a nd lowercase characters.

By using both the sup ervisor an
d the user password you can prevent unauthorised persons
from opening the BIOS Setup.
The supervisor password gives you access to all functions of
the BIO S Setup, while the use
r p assword only provides some of the functions. Yo u can only
set a user password if a supe
rvisor password has already been assigned.
