If you do not receive the distress acknowledge from a coast station and you have
received the distress alert more than twice,
press $ to choose ANSWER and press the
[ENT] key to send the distress acknowledge signal to the ship in distress.
4. Press the [ENT] key to open the CALL TYPE menu.
The option ACKNOWLEDGE
does not appear in the following cases:
a) Distress alert received on HF band.
b) If, on MF band, more than 2 min. 45 sec.
elapses after the distress alert is received.

6. Press the [CALL] key to send the distress acknowledge call to the ship in distress. Note that
the distress acknowledge is immediately sent when the time elapsed between reception and
transmission of it is more than one minute. If the [CALL] key is pressed before one minute
has elapsed a timer appears and counts down the time remaining before the call is sent.
