3. The locko ut adjusting screw (3) should be
adjusted so that it engages the lockout t!'iP paddle.

and displaces the trip shaft (6) when the breaker
is opened. T his assure s th at the breaker is locked
open until the device is reset as described above. ·
The l ockout adjusting screw is furnished only
with
the l9 ckout feature . -
4. With the manual trip button fully depressed ~
position the t rip- r od re l ease collar (16) on , the trip
rod (14) so that the latch (4) and ca tch (15) are
disengaged before the }> rie aker opens.
5. This device is t qui~ped with latch release
strap (7) which is engaged py the shunt trip armature
l ever (8) when the · shunt trip device is operated.
This de f eats the device when the shunt tr ip device
operates. The l atch rel _e ase strap (7), which is
a part of the device latch (4), must be formed to
hook around the shun t trip ar m ature l ever (8)
in a manner that w ill ass u re the device l atch and
catch are disengaged be f ore the breaker opens.
OPEN FUSE LOCKOUT DE. VICE

The open fuse l ockout device consists of 2 or
3 separa t ely operated devices (one per phase)
each wired in pa r allel to co r respo nding br eake r
fuses. This devi ce is furnished on all AKU
bre~ers, breaker fuse combinations and L B- 1
protectors f urnished after August,. 1960. The
devices are mo unted on the left hand side of the
breaker (looking from front). The purpose of this
device.· is to trip the . breaker upon the blowing
of
any one of the breakers fuses .
OPERATION .
When any orie of
the breakers fuses blow· the
co il (6), in th at particular phase, is energized
and the ar mature (8) closes. The _ armature (8)
moving to the closed air gap position engages the
trip paddle (1) and trips the breake r. W ith
the armatu re cl osed , spring(13)discharges , pivot-
ing
the arm (9) in a clockwise direction and latches
the armature (9) in - the closed position. T his
motion al so moves the reset .button (10) forward
in the extended position indicating which fu se
has blown. The latch closed armature holds the
breaker in the t rip free position until it is released
by operation of the manual reset button(lO). The
coil (6) is de-energized · as soon as the breaker
is tripped open. - ·
ADJUSTMENTS
From 1/32 inch to 1/16 in ch overtr avel of
the armature is re q uired when the br eaker is
tri1wed.. If adjustment is, 1recessary, l oosen lock-
nut
(4) and tt:1rn rod (3} in or out-to.obtain the
proper overtrave l. Retigllten lock nut (4).
